Dismantling the dome

Scope of services:

  • Mechanical demolition of 5000 t high-strength concrete structures with remote-controlled electric excavators

  • Processing of concrete into concrete rubble 0 mm - 20 mm with compact crusher and filling in big bags

  • Dismantling 300 t of reinforcing steel to BigBag size

  • Static monitoring of the stability of the containment (safety vessel)

 

Technical and device-specific features:

  • 30 t remote-controlled electric excavator (compressed to the internal dimensions of an ISO 20' container to enable transport between control areas)

  • All attachments (3 t demolition hammer, demolition shears, pulverizer, sorting grapple and backhoe bucket) can be quickly changed with OilQuick

  • Compact crusher including magnetic separator, screen and big bag filling station

  • Electronically operated skid steer loader and forklift

  • All work takes place in the radiation protection area according to § 36 StrlSchV (controlled area)

  • Static monitoring using vibration measurements, strain gauges and deformation measurements

Scope of services:

  • Low-aerosol shaving (surface removal) of 1500 m² of high-strength reinforced concrete structures with a removal depth of up to 10 mm in the radiation protection area according to Section 36 of the Radiation Protection Ordinance (controlled area)

  • Remediation of weakly bound asbestos in the controlled area in compliance with TRGS 519

  • removal of all interfering edges (1000 linear meters of anchor rails, dowels, wall pipes)

 

Technical and device-specific features:

  • Use of mechanically guided milling tools on wall, floor and ceiling milling technology

  • Work in compliance with StrlSchV and TRGS 519

  • Working with forced-ventilated protective suits

  • Demolition control room 2,000 m³ uR

  • 10 areas with suspected radioactive material

 

Technical and device-specific features:

  • Remaining gutting and demolition in accordance with the Radiation Protection Ordinance (StrlSchV)

  • Pre- and post-examination of employees for fitness for work in

  • radiation-contaminated area

  • Continuous measurement of radiation exposure with a body-worn dosimeter
